This Is Not a Court or Government Office. This private resource cannot obtain a court file, reschedule a hearing, issue a certified copy, alter or seal a record, or provide legal advice. The responsible court or clerk must handle those matters.
Need an Official Docket or Record?
Match the request to the court level. Wayne County Clerk Cathy M. Garrett is Clerk of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan and maintains Third Circuit records. Probate and district-court records use separate offices, even when the case began in Wayne County.
- Third Circuit public case information: use the court's Odyssey Public Access page for an unofficial public result, then request an official record from the Clerk when needed.
- Michigan public case search: begin with MiCOURT Case Search for a participating court, then verify the court and case number.
- Third Circuit record, copy, or certification: contact the Wayne County Clerk or the Records Division below. A Register of Actions is not necessarily the full document file.
- Probate case or probate record: contact the Wayne County Probate Court channels below, not the County Clerk's Circuit records desk.
- District traffic, misdemeanor, civil-infraction, small-claims, or district civil matter: contact the individual district court clerk named on the citation, notice, or case. Each district court maintains its own original file.
For Third Circuit clerk services, contact Cathy M. Garrett, Wayne County Clerk, 2 Woodward Avenue, Suite 201, Detroit, MI 48226; 313-967-6938; clerkhelp@waynecountymi.gov. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are required or strongly advised, so confirm the current process before traveling.
For Circuit records and historical-file questions, contact the Wayne County Clerk Records Division, CAYMC Room LL-61, 2 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48226; 313-224-5530; fax 313-967-3712; wcrecordroom@waynecounty.com. Request a specific case number or party names and identify whether you need inspection, a Register of Actions, an ordinary copy, or a certified copy. Court case files are not ordinary Michigan FOIA requests: MCL 15.232(h)(iv) addresses the judiciary exemption, while MCR 8.119 governs public court-record access.
Probate records remain separate. For Probate records, call 313-967-4041 or email filedept@wcpc.us. For Probate service, call 313-967-4030 or email probateservice@wcpc.us. Probate access and service questions should stay with the Probate Court rather than being sent to the Wayne County Clerk's Third Circuit records channels.
