Privacy Policy

This policy describes the visitor information Wayne County Court Docket may receive, how it is used, and the circumstances in which it may be shared. By using this site, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

When a visitor enters a name or case number in a search tool displayed on this site, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its result. We do not keep a separate log of the search terms entered through those tools.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If you email us, we retain the message and its contact details as needed to respond. We do not disclose the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page is loaded, routine technical information associated with the visit may be collected, including:

  • The device's IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • The referring site, when one is available
  • Dates and times of page views

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device that can help measure how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and where sessions end. Analytics services may aggregate that traffic information. Browser settings can be used to limit or block cookies, though some site functions may respond differently when cookies are disabled.

What We Do With This Data

Routine visitor information may be used for the limited operational and service purposes listed below.

  • Operate, maintain, and improve site performance
  • Route a submitted search query to the applicable partner service
  • Assess which pages visitors use and how the site functions
  • Identify and address technical problems
  • Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests

No Court-Record Data on File

This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Wayne County court dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general guidance about public routes for Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan records, district-court records, Probate Court records, and Michigan public case-search services. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party record profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Search boxes on certain content pages are supplied by outside providers. Information entered in one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing practices. We do not control those practices, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

The site links to clerk pages, court portals, Michigan public case-search services, and other resources. A visitor who follows one of those links leaves this site and becomes subject to the destination site's privacy policy. Review that policy before providing personal information there.

Advertising partners may also measure activity across websites to provide interest-based advertising. That activity is carried out on their systems rather than ours.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to the following categories of recipients:

  • Search partners that process a submitted query
  • Analytics providers used to measure site traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that serve ads on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities when a valid legal requirement applies

How We Protect Your Data

We use reasonable safeguards intended to protect the information we collect. No internet-connected system can promise complete security, however, and we cannot guarantee that an unauthorized access incident will never occur.

Users Under 18

This site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal information to us, notify us so that we can address the matter.

Your Data Rights

Michigan court-file access described on this site is governed by court-record rules, not an ordinary county FOIA request. MCR 8.119 addresses inspection and access to public court records, while MCR 1.109(D) protects specified personal identifiers in public filings. MCL 15.232(h)(iv) identifies the judiciary exemption relevant to treating a court case file as an ordinary Michigan FOIA record. These authorities govern court-record access, not a request for this site's visitor data.

Subject to applicable law, a visitor may ask what personal information we hold about that visitor, request correction of inaccurate information, ask us to delete information, or opt out of certain processing where that option applies.

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. A revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
